Venture Capital in Finland – Sitra

The Finnish National Fund for Research and Development (Sitra) is an independent public foundation under the supervision of the Finnish Parliament. Sitra’s operations have been focused into six programmes, each of which consists of various projects and measures. The programme areas are: Innovations, Health Care, Food and Nutrition, Environment, Russia and India. Sitra has made venture-capital investments mainly in start-ups in the medical and technology sectors. The new venture-capital investments will be focused on the programme areas. Sitra’s PreSeed service is aimed at enterprises in their early stages. The service helps people with good business ideas to find sources of venture capital. Venture-capital investments made within the PreSeed service are primarily based on funding from private investors. © Sitra
