Direct Capital is a fund of $78 million seeking to invest by taking non-controlling equity stakes in unlisted New Zealand companies. DC acts as a supportive financial partner with its investee companies. Its primary role is the provision of capital and typically it does not assume a day-to-day operational role. However, DC will assist in developing each investee company\'s financial structure and business strategy as appropriate, as well as monitoring performance through its representation on the investee company\'s board. DC seeks to be a long-term shareholder holding investments in unlisted companies for as long as the original shareholders remain. DC will seek to invest $5-15 million in each company and hold a 10-49% equity stake in the company, alongside established shareholders.
