Pretzelvania was the name of the company in 1991 and was founded by Jeffery Tripp. The first store opened in Layton, Utah. One year later, a group of businessmen approached Jeffery to form a franchise company called Pretzelmaker. Growing to 40 stores by 1995, a group of investors purchased Pretzelmaker and expanded the franchise concept to 160 store locations. In 1998 Mrs. Fields Famous Brands purchased Pretzelmaker.
