this is a picturesque parkland course situated in west yorkshire with a large catchment area close by. Although opened only in 1995, the course has a mature feel to it with lush fairways, trees, water features and greens which have been created to uspga standards. The course was recently featured (2010) in the highly respected magazine, “golf world”, as one of top ten best nine- hole golf courses in the world ahead of over 5,000 worldwide courses. It was described as “a liitle gem” in the magazine and was up there with the best around. they were also selected as one of the top ten best 9 hole courses in the uk (2009) in the national club golfer magazine, and described as having “excellent greens and lush fairways”.
the well appointed clubhouse and fully licensed bar is a welcoming 19th hole for the members and their guests. All day round catering is provided with dining facilities for 40 covers and for sit down functions, the club can cater for approximately 80 diners. both the catering functions and the bar have been franchised out to an outside supplier which guarantees a license income whilst keeping overheads down to a minimum. the club holds the local authority premises licence, along with the appropriate licenses for music and dance there is a large conservatory which has been built onto the side of the clubhouse and this opens out onto the patio area overlooking the 18th green.
the owner has invested heavily in both his time and resources to produce a wonderfull test of golf for all abilities. The course has excellent drainage, an intigrated watering system round the greens, mature trees and has eighteen different tees. One of the areas finest practice facilities has been created with the construction of an eight bay, fully covered, automated and floodlit driving range, which can be used all year round and includes a tuition bay with left hand option.
the club has an excellent inventory of modern machinery and equipment for the upkeep of the course all kept in a purpose built greenkeepers shed. There is an on site professional golfer who keeps a well equiped pro shop and the kitchen is well apointed to serve both snacks and full three course meals throughout the day.
with over 280 members and turnover increasing in each of the past three years the club is “bucking” the national trend. The club has continued to flourish and goes from strength to strength. There are both mens, ladies, seniors and junior teams in the local area golf alliance.
there is room for growth and expansion for new owners with fresh ideas and desire to take the club forward to the next level.
